Free BBW dating apps: what is really free, and what isn't
Updated October 19, 2026Curvy Match editorial teamHow we rate
Short answer
No dedicated BBW dating app is fully free. WooPlus gives you the most for nothing (profile, browsing and matching), with VIP at $18.99 a month on the US App Store. BBWCupid lets free members message paid members, while LargeFriends and BBPeopleMeet keep full messaging behind a subscription.
Some links are affiliate links: if you join a site through them we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. It never changes how we rate. How we make money.
Portraits are AI-generated illustrations, not members. They show the kind of people who use curvy-friendly sites. Tapping one opens WooPlus, our top pick (affiliate link).
The short version
"Free" on a dating app almost always means free to sign up and look around. The moment you want to start conversations, read every message or see who liked you, a paywall appears. Below is what each curvy-focused app offers before you pay, based on public pricing, app-store listings and user reviews checked October 19, 2026.
| App or site | Free | Paid | Price from (public, Oct 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|
| WooPlus | Profile, photos and videos, browsing, local and global matches | VIP membership, plus Diamonds bought separately | VIP $18.99/month (US App Store) |
| BBWCupid | Profile, search, likes, favorites, see who is interested, message paid members | Gold or Platinum to message anyone | Gold $33.49 for 1 month (DatingScout) |
| LargeFriends | Profile, photo uploads, up to 50 winks a day, basic search | Premium for full messaging, advanced search, full-size photos | $29.95 for 1 month (DatingScout) |
| BBPeopleMeet | Profile, search, 5 daily matches, see who viewed you | Messaging, chat, flirts, likes and comments | $14.99 for 1 month (DatingScout) |
WooPlus: the most generous free tier
WooPlus is an app-first service built for curvy singles. The US App Store listing (seller: Dating Oasis Limited) shows a free download, VIP plans at $18.99 for one month, $58.99 for six months and $98.99 for twelve months, plus Diamond packs from $0.99 to $19.99.
You can use WooPlus for a while without paying, which makes it a good first test of whether curvy-specific dating suits you. The catch is not the price, it is the moderation: its Trustpilot page sits at 1.5 with 85% one-star reviews, mostly about catfish profiles and people pushing conversations off the app.

Try WooPlus freeBBWCupid: free to reply, paid to start
BBWCupid's free tier is broader than most: search, likes, favorites and the list of who is interested in you. Free members can message Gold or Platinum members, so a conversation can start for free if the other person pays.
To message anyone, Gold costs $33.49 for one month or $129.99 for a year according to DatingScout's September 2026 table. Platinum, which adds extra visibility, starts at $40.99 for one month.
LargeFriends and BBPeopleMeet: look free, talk paid
Both let you build a full profile and browse. LargeFriends adds up to 50 winks a day, which is a way to signal interest without writing. BBPeopleMeet shows five daily matches and who viewed you.
Real conversation needs a subscription on both. BBPeopleMeet is the cheaper of the two at $14.99 for one month in DatingScout's table; LargeFriends is $29.95 for a month or $15.99 a month on a six-month plan.
How to keep free actually free
Most complaints about these apps are not about the price, they are about charges people did not expect. A few habits prevent almost all of them.
- If you start a trial or a paid plan, turn off auto-renew the same day. You keep access until the end of the period.
- Subscribed inside the app? Cancel through Apple or Google, not by deleting the app. Deleting does not stop billing.
- Diamonds, boosts and coins are one-off purchases. Decide on a monthly limit before you buy any.
- Screenshot the price and renewal terms at checkout. If a charge goes wrong, it is your proof.
Mainstream free apps are an option too
Hinge and Bumble let you match and chat without paying, and their paid tiers mostly add visibility and filters. You get far more people, but no curvy focus, so expect to filter out rude messages yourself. Our guide to curvy-friendly mainstream apps explains which safety settings to switch on first.

What is the cheapest BBW dating site?
